Thermodynamic Libaries

Properties

The libraries provides functions to calculate common thermodynamic properties like density, enthalpy, entropy, isobaric heat capacity, isochoric heat capacity, sonic velocity as function of pressure and temperature. Also, inverse functions are provided (e.g. temperature as function of pressure and enthalpy). Also, relevant transport properties like the dynamic and kinematic viscosity, thermal conductivity and surface tension are provided.​​



Units

For each property the most common units can be used (e.g. temperature °C, K, °F, °R). Unit conversions are done automatically once specified. Default units are the ones most used in Europe.



Library groups

In total over 1200 functions are available divided over 20 libraries. A short description of the main library groups can short is given below:​



Water and Steam

Both the Industrial and scientific formulation of the properties for water and steam are included. Besides this the libraries for the calculation of properties of seawater are included, also to calculate thermodynamic properties of desalination plants.



Gasses

- Property calculations of humid are and flue gases according DIN and ASME standards.

- Properties of natural gas according ISO standards, including the cryogenic region.​​​​

- Properties of pure gases N2, O2, CO2, Ar based on fundamental Helmholtz equations.



Refrigerants

For a large number of refrigerants fundamental (derived from Helmholtz equation) or working equations (faster, more restricted limits) are provided. Examples are NH3, R22, R134a, R152a, R123, R32, R290, R1234zeE, R1234yf, but also aqueous NH3 solutions and aqueous Li-Br solutions.



Combustion

Procedures are provided to calculate the composition of humid air based on temperature, pressure and humidity, as well as calculation of flue gas compositions based on actual combustion calculations.



Flows

Calculation of flows for orifices, nozzles and venturis according ISO and ASME standards. These calculations are possible for calibrated and non calibrated devices.



Miscellaneous

Function for solar position calculations, economic analysis and mathematical functions not provide by Excel (e.g. advanced interpolation routines).
